New and Traditional Tracks at This Year's

2017 Summer Assessment Institute:

Process, Practice, and Progress

The 2017 NEean Summer Institute (SI) will be held Tuesday, June 6- Wednesday June 7 at Lasell College in Newton, Massachusetts.

The 2017 SI features two- day tracks for assessment teams and individual faculty.

Traditional Track A:  Summer Assessment Institute (AI)

The NEean AI is a two-day course designed for college and university faculty and administrator teams as they strengthen their assessment efforts and link campus assessment processes with curriculum design, delivery, improvement, and accreditation expectations. Time is given over the two days for institution team meetings to discuss and refine assessment plans. Members of the NEean board work closely with teams, providing individualized guidance.

This track is recommended for campus teams of two or more people, including:

  • Administrators and faculty responsible for coordinating campus or department assessment efforts;
  • Administrators and faculty from campuses preparing for accreditation visits;
  • Administrators and faculty from campuses responding to recommendations from accreditors.

NEW FOR 2017 Track B: Assessment of Learning in Courses (ALC)

The ALC is a new, two-day institute track for individual faculty members designed to provide guidance at the course level.

In your course, what are the primary concerns you have about student learning? Would you like to explain what you expect for learning with greater clarity? Have any of your assignments or tests left you wondering whether students actually learned what you taught? NEean offers a faculty member’s deeper dive which emerges by collaborating with faculty members from across New England.

For this workshop, bring an outline or syllabus and a major assignment to work on together.

By the end of this two day workshop you will:

1)   Be clear about your expectations for students, with measurable learning objectives, and

2)  Ensure assignments correspond to your expectations…so that students demonstrate achievement of those learning expectations.

The NEean ALC track is a resourceful retreat focusing upon assessing learning as it takes place in your course, and collaborating with others facing similar challenges in their courses.

Registration rates are $450 for two days of sessions, not including accommodations.
