2019 NEean Summer Assessment and Learning Institute
Social Justice and Learning Assessment
The NEean Summer Assessment Institute supports individual faculty seeking to advance teaching and learning by working on course and curriculum re-design; and supports teams of faculty and administrators as they link evidence of student learning improvements as well as course and curriculum adjustments to accreditation expectations.
Keynote Address: Tia Brown McNair, Vice President of the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Student Success at the Association of American Colleges and Universities will deliver the keynote address.
Three Tracks: Please choose your track when submitting your registration.
Track A: Academic Assessment Track for Teams
The Team Track supports college and university faculty and administrators as they strengthen their assessment efforts and link campus assessment practices with curriculum design, delivery, improvement, and accreditation expectations. Time is given during the two days for institution team meetings to discuss and refine assessment plans, so this track is a powerful retreat from everyday distractions.
Track B: Expanding your Practices
We have listened to feedback from past Summer Assessment Institute participants, and we introduce a path of presentations and workshops intended to build foundational knowledge to advanced assessment practices. This track is recommended for individuals who want to network with other assessment professionals and strengthen their own knowledge in the assessment of learning.
Track C: Upgrading Academic Challenge and Support
How can we ensure we challenge even the striving students, and support the less well-prepared students? Do you have a population that emerges each year and achieves less well than others? Or a population that strives and accomplished very well? NEean offers a deeper dive into pedagogy which emerges by collaborating with faculty members from across New England. For this workshop, bring an outline or syllabus and a major assignment or exam to work on together.
