ABOUT
NEean Mission and Values
We champion authentic assessment, moving beyond compliance to cultivate meaningful processes that enhance educational effectiveness. NEean serves as a community of practice, providing professional development and collaboration opportunities. We bridge the gap between educators and policymakers to shape policies prioritizing educational quality and equity. Our work and advocacy emphasizes:
Student Success: Defining and supporting student success holistically, from academic achievement to personal and professional growth.
Teaching and Learning: Elevating the faculty perspective to integrate assessment seamlessly into pedagogical practices.
Evidence-Based Processes: Promoting continuous improvement through the collection and analysis of meaningful data.
Collegiality and Collaboration: Building connections among educators to share expertise, challenges, and innovative solutions.
We offer tailored resources and strategies to advance assessment practices that are practical, actionable, and aligned with the diverse needs of our community.
History
NEean was established in 1995 by a group of higher education professionals interested in creating a regional network to support the exchange of ideas related to assessment. The founding of NEean was featured in Assessment Update, March-April 1998, Volume 10, Number 2, p.4. in an article entitled New England Schools Develop Regional Connections for Improving Assessment.
Board of Directors
The NEean Board of Directors comprises faculty and administrators from colleges and universities throughout New England and beyond. Board members often serve as consultants or can make referrals to meet specific institutional needs.
