Learning Assessment Through Living It: Using AI as both Tool and Teacher in Graduate Education
January 26, 2026
12noon to 1:00PM Eastern Time
This presentation explores an innovative graduate course where students learn assessment principles while experiencing AI-mediated assessment firsthand. Students interact with AI as personalized tutors, skeptical challengers, and debate partners, then build their own assessment-aligned GPTs. This dual approach—learning about assessment through AI while experiencing AI-mediated assessment, develops sophisticated critical thinking and transforms students from passive technology consumers into thoughtful practitioners ready for AI-enhanced educational contexts.
