Navigating Policy Change in an Age of Uncertainty

Higher education is facing a period of significant disruption, as federal policy shifts and evolving accreditation standards challenge institutions to rethink how they demonstrate quality and accountability. The Spring 2026 NEean Dialogue brings together assessment professionals to examine what this moment demands of our practice. Through panel presentations, workshops, and small group discussions, participants will engage with a central question: how does assessment help institutions maintain their commitments — to quality, to equity, and to student learning — when the external environment is in flux? We will examine the demands created by shifting federal policy and accreditation standards, consider what budget pressures mean for equitable access and outcomes, and explore how assessment can help institutions stay true to their educational missions. We invite you to join colleagues from across the region for a day of honest conversation, shared learning, and renewed commitment to the values — and the practice — that define our work.
