Navigating Change Through Effective, Transformative, and Innovative Assessment
November 8
College of the Holy Cross, Worcester, MA
Keynote Presentation Navigating Change: Lessons from the Office of Community College Research & Leadership (OCCRL) and the National Institute for Learning Outcomes Assessment (NILOA) This plenary session brings together various paradigm shifts underway in our educational systems and institutions, specifically community colleges. Building off literature and resources from both OCCRL and NILOA, attendees will reflect on the current state of assessment at community colleges and explore the potential promises equity-minded and healing-centered assessment can foster if sustained. Dr. Gianina Baker is the associate director of evaluation, learning, and equitable assessment at the Office of Community College Research and Leadership. She supports and promotes OCCRL through her project management and assists with assessment/evaluation consulting services, public engagement, and the organization's research agenda. Dr. Baker still serves as the acting director of the National Institute for Learning Outcomes Assessment, a research-resource organization that provides thought leadership and technical assistance to colleges and universities nationally and is geared toward the assessment of student learning. Previously, Dr. Baker served as the director of institutional effectiveness & planning, director of institutional research, and as a counselor, all positions at Richland Community College. |
